Lawrence Jones MD

Dr. Jones joined HMRI in 1974. He attended Yale University and UC Berkeley before receiving his medical degree from UC San Francisco. Through residency programs at LA County-USC Medical Center and a research fellowship at UC San Francisco, he specialized in pediatric and adult urologic surgery. After completing his medical training and military service, he joined the Pasadena Urological Medical Group.

Combining this strong interest in research with the practice of medicine made him a successful collaborator to HMRI’s cell culture and prostate cancer research programs. Dr. Jones and his colleagues at HMRI developed the well-known cell line PC-3, the endorectal coil for prostatic magnetic resonance imaging, and completed a phase I clinical trial with a novel therapeutic agent for prostate cancer.

Dr. Jones is past president of the California Urological Association, the Western Section of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU).
