Research Programs

HMRI conducts internationally recognized research programs in cancer, heart and neurological disease, cell biology, neural engineering, and magnetic resonance. Our internationally recognized researchers study diseases of the brain (migraine, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury), heart (heart attack, chronic heart disease, sleep apnea), liver (hepatitis, liver cancer), colorectal diseases, integrated with cell biology, immunology, and advanced imaging research. Below is a partial list of our current projects and programs.

Neurosciences
Focused on discovering underlying causes of common brain disorders
Cardiovascular
Heart disease can be life threatening. We are working to develop better tools to diagnose and treat diseases of the heart.
Advanced Imaging Research
Innovative technologies are allowing us to explore the brain and heart as never before
Reproductive and Vascular Immunology
Preeclampsia is a pregnancy related high blood pressure disorder. We are working to understand what causes this condition
Liver, Hepatitis and Prostate Research
HMRI Liver Center’s clinical research programs are directly related to our customized patient-centered care and treatment
Colorectal Research
Advances made in minimally invasive surgeries. Colon and rectal surgery had traditionally been performed through large incisions with long postoperative hospital stays.
