JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Provides academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assesses and develops cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in the classroom.
• Advises and instructs students regarding program of study and effective study skills.
• Observes and evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations.
• Provides timely feedback on student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours.
• Plans and organizes instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes, maximizing student learning and aligning it with program goals.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes.
• Prepares and submits data and reports on course and student progress promptly.
• May participate in curriculum and program development and offer feedback on student learning outcomes.
• Fosters a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students.
• Maintains current knowledge of the evolving fields of science and STEM education theory, along with hands-on and inquiry-based education, as well as other relevant educational philosophies, and uses this knowledge to continue developing and enhancing the education program.
• Must possess sensitivity and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of underserved high school students.
• The STEM instructor also carries out a variety of job duties as assigned and requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years’ experience teaching science
• Bachelor's degree required; preference given to those with an advanced degree
• Experience in working and teaching in a laboratory is highly preferred
• A passion for science education
• A deep sense of professionalism
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively
• Exceptional computer skills are required. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is necessary.
• Sound judgment and decision-making capability
• Must be a reliable and conscientious self-starter, with excellent attention to detail and ability Excellent written and oral communication skills to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with colleagues, fostering respect, consensus, and trust across reporting lines.
